Adding Videos
Adding videos to your website can enrich your content, engage your audience, and enhance the learner experience. There are two ways to add videos, one of which is uploading them directly to your site as you would images using the Add Media function in WordPress Editor.
Although you can upload your videos directly to your LP site, we recommend that you use a third-party video sharing service such as YouTube or Vimeo for a few reasons:
- Uploading videos to your website will cost you bandwidth. Higher quality videos cost more bandwidth.
- A third-party sharing service like YouTube or Vimeo processes each video for a better web experience. It can automatically detect the user’s internet connection and device type to play the video in the most appropriate quality. If you upload your video directly to LP, you are missing out on those optimizations and your video will display as is.
- A third-party sharing service provides tools for you to organize your videos. This can be very helpful especially if you have a media-rich site with lots of video content.
Embedding a video from YouTube or Vimeo is as easy as referring to its URL in your page, as in the example below (using WordPress Editor):
