The Uncanny Glow-Up: A New Look, a New Chapter

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 13 years since Ryan and I launched Uncanny Owl back in May 2013. Back then, we did a lot of the design work ourselves, including our logo and website. And while they served us well for over a decade, we were long overdue for an update. After sweating the details for months, our team is excited to launch our new, modernized website and updated branding including a new, simplified logo and a loveable new mascot.

Why Now?

The short answer: because where we’re headed demands it.

When we started Uncanny Owl, LearnDash was a young plugin and WordPress eLearning was still finding its footing. We built our reputation by filling the gaps — better reporting, better group management, WordPress automation (we were really the first in this space!), and everything else that LearnDash site owners actually needed to run their businesses. That mission hasn’t changed, but it has grown.

This rebrand is the first step in a renewed commitment to providing the best add-ons for LearnDash and a deliberate expansion of our solutions and expertise into the broader WordPress LMS ecosystem. We have a clear picture of where we’re taking Uncanny Owl, and now we have the website and branding to match.

What’s New

A modernized logo. Our original logo was created in an illustrative style and had character (I’m biased). The new one was created in a graphic design style and is sharper, cleaner, and easier to scale across every context — from plugin headers to conference banners.

A redesigned website. The new uncannyowl.com makes it easier to find what you’re looking for. Whether you’re a solo course creator, an agency building client sites, or an L&D team managing thousands of learners, the new site gets you to the right answer faster.

Meet our new mascot. Every good brand needs a face, and ours is a friendly owl who represents what we’ve always been about: helping people learn and teach more effectively. You’ll see it across our site, our documentation, and our plugins going forward. We think it captures the personality of our brand: approachable, knowledgeable, and just a little bit playful. A name is in the works!

Plugin Updates: More Than Skin Deep

The glow-up isn’t limited to just our website. We’re rolling out visual updates across our entire plugin suite, and planning longer-term architecture improvements under the hood.

We’ve already completed a full visual overhaul of Uncanny Toolkit Pro and Uncanny Redemption Codes, with refreshed, modern interfaces. Other plugin overhauls are in the works — stay tuned for those.

Something Big Is Coming to Uncanny Automator

We’ve been working on something we’re not quite ready to fully unveil, but I’ll say this: Uncanny Automator has always been the best way to automate your WordPress site. Soon, it’s going to be more than that. Much more.

Imagine you could hire a full-time WordPress assistant that can build automations for you, but also completely understands your site, can answer questions about it and take care of a lot of those tasks you still do manually. Now imagine this assistant does all of this for just pennies a day. That’s what we’re building. Some tasks need an automation. Some just need to get done. We’re expanding Uncanny Automator to handle both.

More details are coming very soon. If you’re an Automator user, you’ll want to pay attention.

Announcing Our Partnership with Team Tangible

Over the years, we’ve shifted our focus entirely to building and improving our plugins. But we’ve always known that many LearnDash site owners need more than plugins — they need expertise to help build the right learning experience.

That’s why we’re officially announcing a partnership with Tangible Inc, one of the most accomplished LearnDash consulting agencies in the WordPress ecosystem. With over 400 clients and a team of more than 30 LearnDash experts, Tangible delivers everything from complete LearnDash builds to custom integrations, SCORM/xAPI support, enterprise-grade performance, and ongoing support.

They’ve even built hosting infrastructure specifically designed for demanding LearnDash and WordPress LMS sites. We’ve seen dramatic performance improvements on sites that have moved to their platform — the kind of speed gains that directly impact learner experience and completion rates.

We’ll share the full details of this partnership in a separate blog post. For now, if you need expert LearnDash development or consulting, head to our consulting page to learn more about what Tangible can do.

Celebrate with Us: The Uncanny Glow-Up Sale

To mark The Uncanny Glow-Up, we’re running a sale on the All Access Pass — our bundle of all five premium LearnDash plugins (Uncanny Toolkit Pro, Tin Canny Reporting, Uncanny Groups, Uncanny Redemption Codes, and Uncanny Continuing Education Credits), plus a 60% off coupon for Uncanny Automator Pro – Plus.

The standout deal: the 10-site pass is just $299/year (normally $699) — that’s over $1,800 in annual savings compared to buying plugins individually. The 2-site pass starts at $299 as well.

What’s Ahead

The Uncanny Glow-Up is a beginning, not a finish line. Over the coming months, you’ll see continued plugin overhauls, the launch of some groundbreaking new capabilities in Uncanny Automator, deeper investment in the LearnDash ecosystem, and the start of our expansion into the broader WordPress LMS space.

We’ve been building eLearning tools for WordPress since 2013, but the best is still ahead of us.
