Uncanny Redemption Codes 5.0: Enhanced Flexibility, Performance and a Visual Overhaul

Uncanny Redemption Codes version 4.x was already the most powerful code redemption plugin available for WordPress

With the release of Uncanny Redemption Codes 5.0, we’ve added enhancements that make managing and distributing codes even more flexible. So whether you’re managing course or group enrollments with an LMS like LearnDash, or distributing codes for promotional campaigns, or automating custom code redemption workflows with Uncanny Automator, this release will have something for you.

What’s New in Version 5.0

Individual Code Date Modification

One of our most requested features is here! You can now modify expiration dates for individual codes, giving you granular control over code expiry. No more bulk operations when you need to extend a single code’s validity—simply edit the date for that specific code and you’re done. This enhancement addresses a long-standing limitation and provides the flexibility many of you have been asking for.

Smarter LearnDash Validation

Version 5.0 introduces intelligent validation for LearnDash code redemptions. The system now checks whether users attempting to redeem codes are already enrolled in the associated course(s) or group(s). This prevents duplicate enrollments and wasted codes, while providing clearer feedback to users about their enrollment status. It’s a small change that makes a big difference in preventing confusion and support tickets.

Visual Updates

The entire Uncanny Redemption Codes UI has been updated with modern visuals, including admin screens as well front-end registration and redemption forms. The new forms look fantastic, but if you have previously customized the forms on your site with CSS, you should test the update on a staging site prior to updating on your live site (we recommend this as a best practice for all major plugin updates).

Performance Under the Hood

We’ve enhanced performance significantly by adding a code_id index to the usage table. For sites managing thousands or even millions of codes, this optimization dramatically improves database query performance. Large-scale operations that previously took seconds will now complete in milliseconds, making the plugin more responsive for high-volume users.

A new name

You may have noticed the plugin is now called Uncanny Redemption Codes. We discovered that some users were a bit confused by the “Uncanny Codes” name, thinking the plugin might be similar to WP Code, or Code Snippets, having something to do with programming or custom code. Adding “Redemption” to the name makes it clear that the plugin is all about giving users the ability to redeem codes for access, rewards, store credit, achievements, and lots more.

Other updates:

  • Gravity Forms – Code redemption moved to gf_pre_handle_confirmation hook – ensures that codes are processed at the right moment in the form submission workflow, eliminating some edge cases making code redemptions more predictable and consistent.
  • Fixed Text domain warning on WordPress 6.7+ websites
  • Woo – Edit product – Automator codes product type no longer breaks the edit product page layout on some sites
